We offer both an adult and child psychotherapy training program. Both are restricted to applicants with a Master’s or Doctoral degree in their field of professional training.
The adult curriculum emphasizes clinical experience within a tripartite regimen of didactic course work, individual supervision of psychotherapy cases, and the student's personal psychotherapy or psychoanalysis. Clinical and theoretical courses are paired to emphasize the practical application of the concepts and techniques being studied. The theoretical focus is on the underlying factors forming the basis of personality and psychopathology; with the clinical focus on the influence of these factors on the psychotherapeutic process.
The child curriculum is organized along both theoretical/developmental and clinical tracks, with an emphasis on adapting the program to students’ specific educational needs. Individual weekly supervision is provided by supervisors selected from a list provided by the Child Psychotherapy Program. While applications are accepted from a broad range of professional disciplines, applications from those who work in educational settings and in social agencies providing community service are especially encouraged.
